January 30 - The Wild Party...
Had a bunch of folks email me a link to a pretty funny website... First, go take a look at Dio For America. Of course, that got me to thinking... Always a dangerous thing. Anyhow, if this ever happened, I'd like to think I could assemble a staff for President Dio. Take a look at the newest political party to um, "rock" America - The Wild Party!

For the regulars - I hit a few record stores over the weekend and updated the Playlist.

Speaking of my playlist... I'm *seriously* digging this new Tesla cd...

January 27 - Friends In Low Places...

Don't ask me how I got it, 'cause I'm not tellin'. And no, I can't get any more, though I will beg for a copy or two to give away here... But if I can't get one, you'll just have to wait until March 9, when it'll be released. (But if you visit their website and pre-order, you might be able to get it a little earlier)

Full review will be sometime over the next few days... But I will say that based on first impression, it rocks harder than anything they've ever done.

Tesla still rules. Off to the gym now!

January 25 - Boo Hoo.
Meant to write a long diatribe bashing on a bunch of things that really piss me off. But I ended up watching a repeat of the movie "Deep Impact". It came out at about the same time as "Armageddon", but I felt it was a far superior film. Despite the unhappy ending of only *millions* of (as opposed to ALL) people killed, the sentiment was so strong that you'd have to be one sick bastard NOT to get a little emotional. For those who havent seen it... Essentially, it was a 2-hour goodbye scene with 30 seconds of destruction. Better luck next time... I don't want to cry at the longing, I want to laugh at the exploding.

Oh well... Got a lot of work to do, so I'd better get back to it. I'll probably be asking a lot of you for some help with a project - don't worry, it won't be too hard - so please check back soon.

January 24 - Proud or Ashamed?
Doing a little net surfing last night, I Google'd for "80s metal". My site came up 3rd out of 11,500 results. But then again, I also came up 3rd (and 4th) for "internet narcissism". Guess you gotta take the bad with the good...

Added some new "features". well, they're not really "new", but they were features that for some reason just didn't get noticed. Since cheeseburgers, beaches, and the Bahamas are passions of mine on the same level as music, I only thought it fair to have them represented as well. Also, now it doesn't look so friggin' empty over there while we all wait for another creative muse to strike. Lord knows when that might happen...

January 23 - Told ya...
So here I am, writing updates 2 days in a row... Miracles never cease. The reason for my newfound internet enthusiasm? I finally got around to changing (or remembering) my PIN's on my online brokerage/banking accounts. And the reward for spending all day rebalancing my portfolio? $11.97. That's right - I'm officially one pizza closer to retirement.

Spent some time re-coding the other pages, too. I lost track of which ones are finished and which ones aren't. It's not important - nothing around here ever really gets finished anyways.

Some Sad News

Unfortunately for fellow local 80s metal fans, there's a bit of sad news to report. If you head over to the Chicks Who Rock website, you'll notice the following message posted:

A message from Staci Anderson, your hostess...

It's been a tough couple of days with a difficult decision to make weighing on my mind but I realized that the right thing to do was to resign from my current radio station.

I can't begin to tell you how sad it was for me to do so. It is of the utmost importance to me for everyone to know that my former company has been truly wonderful to me. It was a company that afforded me a lot of opportunites. What's more, everyone I have worked with is absolutely amazing and will always have my deepest respect. They are quality people whom I've been very fortunate to know. I will also miss everyone who has supported me and listened in during the afternoon and on Saturday nights more than you can imagine.

I have accepted an offer with another company and will now be the Assistant Program Director, Music Director and Imaging Director of two other stations in Sacramento. You may not hear me on the air right away but in time that will change. More details will soon come. Until then my email remains the same: chickswhorock@yahoo.com.

Thanks so much for your support and for verifying that I'm not the only one who still loves 80's rock. You've been the main reason why CWR has been a success.

Rock on and I'll update you with more very soon.

If you get a minute, please wish Staci luck with her new endeavors... I don't know what the future holds for her show, but frankly, I can't imagine some form of it NOT coming along with her... One of the stations she'll be working for currently has a retro format... maybe a little grassroots campaign for a show of CWR's caliber is in order... Hmmm... I do love a challenge.

So at the very least, I ask all FJ.com readers to head over to my Def Leppard photo page, put on a copy of "High N Dry", and open up a bottle of good merlot. Cool?

January 22 - Mea Culpa
Well, since I didn't actually put up any holiday decorations over here at Casa James, I figured I'd leave 'em up here for a few extra weeks. But then those few weeks turned into a much longer break than originally planned. So I redesigned a few things that'll allow me to be much more lazy, yet occasionally puke up an update for the 3 people who still check in here once ever few weeks. On the good side, traffic is down to the point where I don't have to worry about high bandwidth costs anymore. I haven't decided whether or not that's a good thing... But one thing's for sure - my 15 minutes of internet fame are long up.

Too bad I missed the raging fight over on the Message Board... It was kinda funny to pop over there and see a thread with 47 replies. Even God Himself made an appearance. Hope He ends up buying a shirt...

But yes, 'tis another redesign. There's still a lot of work to do to get it all back up, but once it is, I'll actually get back to updating on a more regular basis. I know that the site's pretty much sucked for the last few months. Actually, it's sucked for a lot longer than that, but at least I did a better job of hiding it then... Anyhow, hope you dig the new look. The other pages will be converted in the near future.

Scrapped was the Topics section. I just didn't put enough effort into it, and frankly, if I wanted to do that, I'd try to get a job writing commentary for the op/ed section of the newspaper. Added was a new sidebar where cool stuff that doesn't fit in anywhere else will go - video, audio, stupid articles or photo archives, etc. I also brought the music links and personal favorites back onto the front page.

And yes, I really was listening to Danger Danger while I was re-coding...

More brilliant commentary tomorrow! And actual updates to actual feature pages! I promise!

To the folks who still pop in - Thanks for hanging in there with me. I hope I can make it worth your while to keep sticking around.
